I honestly can't tell you how many times I've seen Dark Angel back in the day. It was always, "Oh...these guys again." I didn't think they were bad, but just never found them interesting....at all. Did sort of get to know Hoglan after a while, just from being at the same place so many times. He was pretty cool. Visited his art studio once (which he shared with a friend of mine). He wasn't there at the time. I did get to take a look at his side of the place. He had a LOT of candy bars on his desk/workspace. All that speed? ...Caffeine and Sugar.

Saw Death Angel on the Ultra Violence tour--twice. Both times were completely unforgettable. The first time, Mark's screams were so high, and so loud, they caused half the room (moshers) to lose their balance. I had a hard time just standing there (headbanging). It was amazing. Everyone was laughing (while trying to stand back up), 'cause nobody had ever seen anything like it. The guy literally blew us away with his vocals.

Last month, was the 20th anniversary of The Ultra Violence. Death Angel played a special show at the famous and legendary Hollywood club 'Whiskey a gogo' where they played TUV in its entirety. They completely VAPORIZED the place...laid waste...disintegrated every thing in a three-block radius. Just a show I WILL NEV-ER forget. The audience was just as intense as the band. ...Yeah....just a LEGENDARY show. Hopefully, I will remember it just before I die, and have a nice laugh to myself. I came home nice and beat up....I liked it very much. I can just bang my head right off my neck, just thinking about it. ....It's like....a sonic amphetamine overdose.

They released a special remastered version of that album. I should've got you a copy.

Oh, awesome!
I'd love to see Dark Angel, but it probably wont happend.
I like that 'boring, one-sided' fast thrash. Just like Dark Angel.
Hoglan is a sick drummer.
Played on the latest Testament CD and several Strapping Young Lad CDs.

I did see Death Angel live att Sweden Festival 2010. And it was AWESOME!

Well, there WAS "Oil" but even that's gone.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_%28band%29

"Oil is a Christian thrash metal band from Long Beach, California, USA. The band was formed in 1997 by Ron Rinehart, the former vocalist with Dark Angel, who converted to Christianity at a Harvest Crusade[1] after Dark Angel's dissolution in 1992. Other members include lead guitarist Blake Nelson (formerly with Deceiver, Desire and Captain Black) and drummer Jason Vander Pal. Oil has released two studio albums and one live album.

In 2004, Rinehart left the band to pursue other non-musical interests. The rest of the group is looking for a new vocalist"

I even went and saw them, but instead of scores of moshers in what was usually a punk club, owned by criminal punkers, it was in a church, with sweet, prayerful, little old ladies in pews, while some goofy kids pretended they knew how to mosh.

.....And STILL, I was....."meh."

....Also, I think Hoglan was playing with Dethklok, also....at least on their first tour, anyways.

Not to mention both Individual Thought Patterns and Symbolic by Death
