Good things said here.
For my part, I can relate to feeling alone, as I did so at my first festival(s) as well, but as someone said, after attending a couple of fests I found more and more people that I got to know.
Another aspect is that festivals go by fast and there really isn't much time, you meet a lot of people that you see perhaps once every second year and of course you want to talk to them for a while as well.
But if every one would at least once approach one loner, then every loner would be approached at least once but likely alot of times.

And sometimes, just saying hi and shaking someones hand can make a world of differance. :D

That's totally the right description for this, from both sides: stepping out of your comfort zone.

When I read those replies, I almost think it's a thing for all human beings to struggle with, but for many maybe less of a problem...

At least we can help each other, now that we are aware of this.
I dare to say: I will step out of my comfort zone.

Anyone else also willing to say that? (no pressure, of course!)

I will step out of my comfort zone. If I can still remember this a year from now (who promises to resurrect this thread by then?).

Talking to strangers in not very easy for me, but it happens sometimes. I think it's more difficult to go and talk to someone whom you are not sure if you have talked to him/her before or not. Or if you know that you have but the other person doesn't seem to remember you.

Iron Maiden went one step further and said you shouldn't even look to the eyes of a stranger. :P

Well, as long as we're all at least afraid to shoot strangers it's all good.

x2

i also think that when we step out of our comfort zone we allow god to work through us. as long as we're all comfy, relaxed and happy we don't need god and we will (try to) do things on our own. it's hard sometimes, but i think both we and people around us would benefit from us stepping out of our comfort zones at times. and if you think about it, if we do it a lot, then our comfort zone will eventually grow so that maybe in some years we won't be scared of doing certain things that we are terrified to do today. i think that's quite uplifting. ^^

that, and the fact that "i can do all things through him who strengthens me". (philippians 4:13)
